The Miracle of the Sado is a documentary by ARTE Regards exploring the recovery of the Sado Estuary ecosystem and the people working to protect its unique marine life, including the resident dolphin population.

This watercolor portrait was commissioned for the documentary’s social media, portraying one of its protagonists, a marine biologist, against the distinctive landscape of the Sado Estuary, the Tróia Peninsula and the Arrábida mountain range. The traditional watercolor technique brings together the human story and the natural environment at the heart of the film.
